One of the few releases from American soil at the Geneva Motor Show 2017 is this Chevrolet Camaro Track Concept. It is with this concept car the American brand further explores the track capabilities of their Chevrolet Camaro.

Finished in a flashy shade of green it can impossibly escape your eye when you walk by the Chevrolet stand. Visually it is hard to spot the real differences between this track-oriented concept and the conventional Chevrolet Camaro. The idea behind this particular car is to ‘combine the qualities of a fast sports coupé for road transport with the high-performance additions for use on racetracks at the weekend,’ according to Chevrolet.

The high-performance additions come in the form of special 20-inch rims with wider tires, a chassis that is optimized for faster lap times, reduction of the vehicle’s center of gravity by 30 millimeters, more powerful Brembo brakes and exclusive design features that set the concept car apart from the more civilized Camaro models. Examples of the latter are communicated through the large spoiler lip at the rear, enlarged rear diffuser circumventing the tailpipes, and a significantly lowered front apron with integrated black contrasting front splitter.

Under the hood we find the lovely 6.2-liter V8 good for 453 hp and 617 Nm of torque, linked to the 8-speed automatic transmission. However it is the electronic limited-slip differential and custom exhaust system that take this concept car next level. To what extent these additions and design features elevate the Camaro’s performance is something that we will hopefully learn in the not so distant future once Chevrolet publishes the numbers.
