The first spy shots of the rumoured Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe have been captured this week. The photos were taken just outside the company’s headquarters in Affalterbach. The Mercedes-AMG GT C Coupe is intended to slot between the GT S and the GT R, thanks to a bump in power and a number of other enhancements.

From the photos it looks as though the car was being positioned for a photographer when it was caught. The GT C Coupe is essentially the closed roof version of the GT C Roadster introduced at Paris earlier this year.

This example of the GT C Coupe features the wider rear skirt of the GT R, with the square tail pipes from the GT C Roadster. The wider fenders will house 20-inch wheels which are expected to improve traction.

Under the bonnet will sit the familiar 4-litre bi-turbo V8. For the GT C Coupe, power will be pushing 557 hp and 690 Nm of torque. Together with a 7-speed manual (!) gearbox sprint times and top-speed should mirror that of the Roadster; 3.7 seconds from 0-100 km/h and a top speed of 315 km/h.

Finally, the photos reveal an interesting twist to this particular car. The matte black paint is complemented by an additional logo on the right side of the boot lid which reads “Edition 50”, perhaps this car will be part of AMG’s 50th birthday celebrations in 2017!
