Following this year’s big reveal, the BMW 5 Series, a new generation BMW X5 is next up in line. The project is codenamed G05 and brings an entire new X5 to the market, just five years after the previous generation was revealed.

This is the first set of spy shots of the 2018 BMW X5 that show the real deal with all the right parts in place. What you are looking at are the actual doors, real front- and taillights as well as the correct proportions.

The brand’s best-selling mid-size SUV successor will be based on BMW’s innovative cluster architecture (CLAR) which makes the new X5 lighter, stiffer and more flexible in regards to different variants of the future X5 such as hybrid and performance models.

Most exciting will be the comprehensive engine line up for the new generation BMW X5. A range of four-, six- and eight-cylinder engines will make their way to the SUV with a maximum output of 700 hp. Production will start next year at BMW’s Spartanburg factory in North Carolina, USA.
