The launch of the new 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Coupé is getting closer with recent spy shots revealing more about its looks and proportions. Just like the E-Class sedan and estate, the coupé too will share many of its exterior design lines with the likes of the C-Class coupé and S-Class coupé.

At the rear the coupé appears to be slightly more rounder-edged than the S-Class coupé and a bit more bulkier compared to its C-Class sibling. The front we already know from the sedan, and most people will be able to distinguish the new E-Class coupe by its lights. Despite the heavy camouflage, the stardust rear lights that we know from the sedan and estate can easily be recognized.

Under the skin the E-Class will actually be quite a bit different from the C-Class coupé. In terms of architecture, the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupé will be based on the MRA rear-wheel drive modular platform, just like the current generation E-Class sedan and estate.

Using the same platform means that the 2018 coupé will get much more luggage capacity and interior space compared to its predecessor.

Power comes from new modular inline six-cylinder engines, as well as four-cylinder turbos in both gasoline and diesel guise. Output of these engines will expectedly reach up to 401 hp in the E 43 coupé with six-cylinder biturbo engine. Although nothing has been confirmed so far, it seems very likely the 2018 coupé will also come with the 4.0-liter V8 biturbo engine and E 63 badging, which would be a first on the E-Class coupé.

On the interior there are no surprises, the same class-leading interior from the sedan will make its way to the coupé version. We expect the 2018 Mercedes-Benz E-Class coupé to make an introduction at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show.
