BMW chose the 2016 Paris Motor Show to unveil their BMW X2 Concept. The new compact five-door SUV is to take on competitors such as the recently launched Audi Q2 and the cross-over Mercedes-Benz GLA.

The new compact SUV has an appealing design boasting sporty and sleek looks. Interesting design change on the front-end compared to BMW’s conventional models is the ‘upside down’ placement of the characteristic kidney grille. All-around the highlighted ‘cross-over-like’ bumpers and sideskirts give it both a more offroad impressions as well as a lower and more sportive stance.

What the exact design and proportions of the actual production model will look like remains unknown. However, the X2 car probably looks closest to a production car than any of the other concept cars at the 2016 Paris Motor Show.

Rumors are going around at the show that the new X2 will be brought to the market in spring 2017 and for now will only feature a variety of turbocharged three- and four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines.
