Only four examples were sold new in the UK, one of them will soon be offered at Silverstone Auctions’ Salon Prive auction: the Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo 2. The Benz classic was once sold new in the UK and is supposed to bring in an estimate of 180,000 – 220,000 GBP.

The 190E Evo 2 is the first highlight that’s been released so far leading up to the September Silverstone auction. The car in question has chassis number #452 of the total 502 units that once rolled off the assembly line in Germany. The history of this specific car starts in the year 1990, when it was sold to a collector by Lancaster Mercedes-Benz.

The first ten years of its existence it was actually stored at the Mercedes-Benz dealer, without having spent a single mile on the road. Today the odometer reads a mere 885 miles, explaining the car’s fine condition and matching estimated auction price.

Managing director of Silverstone Auctions, Nick Whale, commented on the car: ‘Any fan of the legendary ‘Group A’ Touring Car era needs to see this car to truly appreciate both its originality and splendid collector status. Without question, one of the lowest mileage examples one could ever find on the market today. We welcome any pre-sale inspections on this unique vehicle and are certain you’ll agree that this incredible homologation special would be a welcome contender at any Concours event around the world.’

An earlier auction this year at Silverstone set a good precedent for the upcoming sale of the 190E Evo, when another 190E Evo 2 with slightly more miles on the clock was sold for a record price of 292,000 GBP, which is well over $350,000. The next Silverstone auction takes place on the 3rd of September this year.
