The 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans is a go! The 84th edition of this treacherous race that will also mark the third round of the current FIA WEC season.
The test day was held on June 5 some few days ago where Audi thrived by setting the fastest time. Lucas Di Grassi topped the timesheet with a 3:21.375 lap, leading the two Porsches albeit with a very slim gap.

The 2016 24 Hours of Le Mans will kick off on Saturday, June 18 at 15:00 hours local time.

The free practice session will kick off on Wednesday, June 15 at 16:00 hours, followed by Qualifying sessions till Thursday.

For this week, the drivers and teams had to go through scrutineering ahead of the practice session and the eventual race. The process kicked off on Sunday at the Place de la République in Le Mans city centre, a total of 60 cars had to pass this mandatory Technical and Administrative Checks. Among those checked on Sunday – Porsche with their two 919 Hybrids, Toyota and their TS050 Hybrids as well as Ford and their new GT racers.
On Monday, more scrutineering continued this time checking a set of Porsche 911 RSRs, Aston Martin Vantage V8s as well as the Audi R18 prototypes.
Tuesday is always a more relaxed day at Le Mans where drivers pose for the traditional group photo, and at the same time engaging the fans during an autograph session. An array of different participating cars is always present for the spectators to have a closer look and even take photos.
