The newly delivered Galactica Super Nova is our feature on today’s Superyacht Sunday. The Heesen built yacht is the largest ever from the Dutch ship builder joining a fleet of more than 170 yachts made since 1978. Heesen has positioned themselves as the world leaders in the construction of all aluminum yachts, Galactica Super Nova is no different as it features an aluminum hull built within the fast displacement class.

At 70 meters, Galactica Super Nova is already among the top 100 largest superyachts in the world, and the largest ever by Heesen Yachts. The vessel was sold in December 2013 but Heesen’s in-house engineers teaming up with naval masters from Van Oossanen managed to build and deliver her in a record 41 months.

As with her successor Galactica Star, the new Super Nova carries forward the theme of speed, space and style. This is clearly shown through the generous relaxation areas across all four decks. The deck space amounts to a humongous 357 square metres which is shared across the beach club, dining, spa, sunbathing area, jet-pool, jacuzzis and more. Furthermore, the upper deck and the sky lounge can be combined to create an indoor or outdoor entertainment area measuring an 92 square metres.

The beach club boasts of 146 square meters of space inclusive of folding platforms sizing 44 square metres. The sundeck is fitted with shades, sunpads, barbeque area, dining and lounge. Additionally, the swim-jet infinity pool comes with a waterfall not to mention the spa jets for hydro massage featuring a glass bottom. The foredeck can also multitask as a touch and go helipad for impromptu trips to the mainland.

Now to the speed, Galactica Super Nova has a top speed of 30 knots which was exceeded during her sea trials in April at the North Sea. She managed to attain a speed of 30.3 knots and is capable of achieving 0 to 30 knots in just 75 seconds. Designer and naval architect Espen Øino was responsible for the exterior design while Sinot Exclusive Yacht Design bestowed their unique touch inside the yacht.
