1951 Ferrari 340 America Barchetta Auctions for $8.2 Million in Monaco

A 1951 Ferrari 340 America Barchetta has been auctioned off for $8.2 Million in Monaco!

The astonishing hammer price was achieved at the RM Sotheby’s auction at Le Sporting Monte Carlo over the weekend.

The 340 America Barchetta is powered by a 217 bhp, 4,100 cc Tipo 340 60-degree V-12 engine with three Weber 40 DCF carburettors. Power is transferred to the wheels via a five-speed manual transmission.

The car rides on independent front suspension and a rear solid axle with semi-elliptical leaf springs. Four wheel drum brakes are standard.

This particular 340 is the third of twenty-three models produced by Ferrari. It is the second of eight bodied by Touring, which certainly helped it achieve such a high hammer price.
