While the Porsche PDK transmission has been the benchmark by which all other performance transmissions have been measured for quite some time now, there may be a new challenger looking to take the top spot.

Chevy’s new 10-speed automatic transmission officially shifts faster than the PDK system from Porsche.

Based on Chevy’s testing, their new 10-speed gearbox shifts from 1st to 2nd gear 36 percent faster than the same shift in a Porsche PDK gearbox. Similar numbers are reported for the shifts from 2nd to 3rd (27 percent) and 3rd to 4th (26 percent).

The transmission has been co-developed with Ford and will make its debut in the 2017 Camaro ZL1.
