The online configurator for the upcoming 2017 Ford GT has been officially launched on Ford’s website.

The online configurator is set up much like any other Ford configurator, albeit with a few slight changes. The most notable change being the fact that configuring a car does not guarantee you the ability to purchase a GT. In fact, Ford is only selecting 500 applicants who complete the online configurator the opportunity to purchase the car. The 500 person limit is the production allocation for two years at 250 cars per year.

Ford has also yet to release pricing information on the GT, only stating that the car will be in a similar price bracket to the likes of the Lamborghini Aventador. That means a starting price of $400,000 or more.

Those lucky 500 customers who are selected by Ford will then be able to choose a dealer near them at which they want to take delivery of their new GT.

The GT is currently being offered with eight different paint colors as well as an optional contrasting racing stripe.

The Ford GT will be powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine that will produce at least 600 hp (we expect more) and will be controlled by a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.
