Recently the Shangri-La Group opened their brand new 50 floors property in Qatar’s capital, Doha. Sheikh Abdullah Bin Nasser Bin Khalifa Al-Thani, Qatar’s Prime Minister, attended the celebratory opening event of the new Shangri-La Hotel in the Gulf state.
The hotel’s design resembles the head of a falcon, paying tribute to Qatar’s historic falconry heritage. To emphasize this even further, a falconer in traditional garb with the majestic bird of prey sat on his arm stands at the tower’s entrance to welcome guests. Upon entrance, a barista serves guests with a special blend of Arabian coffee as an additional welcome gesture.
The tower that stands over 200 meters tall features 272 guest rooms and suites, as well as 42 fully-serviced apartments. The floor-to-ceiling windows in all accommodations allow for plenty of natural light to come in and on top of that provide guests with some of the most breathtaking views over the skyscraper-filled city of Doha.
Interior-wise the guest rooms are finished using a warm color palette. Room amenities include 47-inch Smart TVs with internet access, Shangri-La’s signature mattresses, and marble finished bathrooms with premium toiletries, bath tub and walk-in showers.
Spaces and services available in the immense skyscraper include the Horizon Club Lounge on the 42nd floor of the tower blessed with 360-degrees views of the city and Gulf. Guests are welcome at Horizon to enjoy exclusive bites and complementary refreshments. There is also space for private check-in and many other exclusive privileges.
A massive aquamarine lagoon-style pool invites guests to freshen up in the Gulf state’s warm climate. The pool is part of a 2,000 square meters deck with plenty of lounge areas and other facilities. The pool area is complimented by 70 trees, making it appear as a true urban oasis. Adjacent to the pool area is a 24-hour fitness center, sauna and steam rooms.
In addition to the pool area and fitness center, the massive hotel boasts an Asian-themed spa area called “CHI”. The luxury spa area comprises of eight treatment rooms and an outdoor hydrotonic pool.
