Next in line of Mercedes-Benz’ five world premieres at the 2016 New York International Auto Show is the facelifted Mercedes-AMG CLA 45. Power comes from the world’s most powerful four-cylinder that we know from both the previous generation, A 45 and GLA 45 performance models.

The 381 hp (280 kW) strong four-cylinder produces 475 Nm of torque resulting in a 0-100 km/h sprint of just 4.2 seconds. Paired with the four-cylinder is an updated DCT 7-Speed automatic transmission featuring shorter shifting times.

Compensating for the otherwise minimal upgrades are the DYNAMIC select driving menu and high performance LED headlights that now come standard with the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45. Exterior design updates include a silver chrome twin louvre radiator grille and a new A-wing design for the AMG front apron.

At the rear eyes are drawn to the fresh rear diffusor with four vertical fins, similar to the rear design of the recently released Mercedes-AMG GLC 43. Although the car’s aerodynamics have been restyled to reduce the CLA’s drag coefficient and thereby improve its dynamic driving character, the optional aerodynamics AMG package is now available for the CLA 45 too.

The CLA 45’s intior remains unchanged except for a few extra AMG badges on the ignition key and E-select button. This means that in terms of leather and premium packages customers can expect the usual high quality ARTICO man-made leather with contrasting topstitching.

The new CLA 45 is expected to arrive at dealerships together with the regular CLA and CLA Shooting Brake in June 2016. For more details on the Mercedes-AMG CLA 45, please read our earlier article. For more news from New York 2016, make sure to subscribe to our dedicated news channel.
