Callaway has officially announced plans to release the Callaway Camaro SC740 based on the 2017 Camaro ZL1.

The SC610 is being designed by Callaway as a specialist version of the ZL1 and will feature a power output of 740 hp. Once released, the SC740 will be the most powerful muscle car for sale today according to Callaway.

Compared to the competition, the Challenger Hellcat is the closest rival with 707 horsepower as standard. As far as modified muscle cars go, the closest is the Ford Mustang Roush Stage 3 at 670 hp, Callaway asserts.

The estimated 740 hp in the upcoming SC740 will be achieved through the use Callaway’s GenThree Supercharger System. In order to achieve such an impressive horsepower figure, Callaway will replace the factory supercharger completely with their own unit. The rotor pack displacement of the new unit is 33% larger than the factory unit. Callaway also tweaked the ECU of the ZL1 in order to ensure that all 740 horsepower is usable in both performance and day-to-day driving environments.

The Callaway Camaro SC740 will be available in late 2016 as a 2017 model and will be available through Chevrolet dealers across the United States. As with all Callaway cars, the warranty overlaps with the factory Chevrolet warranty.
