The first naked spy shots of the 2017 Mercedes-Benz E-Class Estate have been captured and released online.
The spy shots, which were captured as the car was sitting parked next to the outgoing E-Class model, give us the best look yet at the styling of the next gen E-Class. The rear end of the car appears to be covered in strategically placed plastic sheeting, meaning we don’t get a good look at the styling of the rear of the car. What we can see, however, is that the Estate version follows in the footsteps of the sedan and will adopt the same two-bar grille and much of the same bodywork.
As with all previous generations of E-Class, expect the interior of the car to carry over from the sedan model save for a few minor tweaks at the rear. The new E-Class will feature a plethora of new features including a brand new steering wheel that includes touch-sensitive controls that can respond to horizontal and vertical swiping movements. Other options will include an ambient lighting package, Burmester 3D surround sound system and fully digital instrument cluster.
Engine options are expected to remain in line with the previous generation in terms of the types of engines on offer. There is a possiblity that a plug-in hybrid version will be offered that includes a four-cylinder engine mated to a electric motor and battery pack. No official word has come down as to whether or not such a model will be available, however.
