Zarooq Motors have unveiled the Zarooq SandRacer recently. The fast off-roader has been developed as part of a plan to launch an off-road, single-make racing championship across the Dubai sand dunes. The car will also be road legal so that owners can drive to and from the race track.

The Zarooq SandRacer has come from the pen of Anthony Jannarelly, designed of the W Motors Lykan and the Fenyr. The chassis design has now been finalised and the engine and wiring are in place so the car is pretty much ready for production. In fact, journalists and clients will be invited to test the car in early 2016.

In terms of statistics, the Zarooq SandRacer will feature a 3.5 litre 6-cylinder engine. Power is rated at 304 hp, although options for 400 hp and 500 hp versions will be available. Torque for the standard model is rated at 371 Nm with a 6,600 rpm redline. The SandRacer will use a 6-speed automatic gearbox with a two-wheel drive setup.

On the chassis side, Fox dampers are used within the suspension, linked to an independent triangle setup at the rear and a trailing arm at the rear. Upgrades will include a dynamic off-road suspension and a performance gearbox. The body panels are fibreglass composite mix whilst carbon fibre components are also optionally available.

Inside, the Zarooq SandRacer will get composite woven cloth seats with four point quick release harnesses and a digital LCD display. Optional comfort seats, infotainment system and carbon fibre components will also be on offer alongside cupholders and glove boxes.

Projector headlights, LED indicators, rack and pinion steering rack and mud guards are also included. Pricing and availability haven’t yet been announced. Once we know we will update you!
