Red Bull Announces 2016 F1 Entry Despite Engine Dramas

Red Bull Racing has officially lodged an application to compete in the 2016 Formula One World Championship despite the team yet to secure an engine deal.

Despite being in talks with a number of engine suppliers and its weakened relationship with current supplier Renault, Autosport reports that the F1 squad is likely to renegotiate a deal with Renault for the 2016 season.

Discussing this news with Autosport, current Red Bull Racing driver Daniel Ricciardo said “It’s nice to know. I always had faith, but it’s nice. It’s the first step towards a better 2016. It’s good news.”

The race-winning Australian also seemed optimistic about the future of the team in 2016 despite the underpowered Renault powertrain.

“The engine was reliable [at Brazil]. Sure, I want a bit more power from it, it’s not as much as we would like, but at least we got some good laps and some good information.”
