$2.5 Million Ferrari Daytona Stolen and Burnt in Australia

A rare 1972 Ferrari Daytona worth $2.5 million has been stolen and found burnt out in Australia.

On early Friday morning, the rare Italian sports car was stolen from a panel beater in Melbourne. The theft of the vehicle came less than two weeks after it was displayed at the city’s large classic car show, Motorclassica.

Immediately following the theft, the news captured headlines throughout the country with calls for the thieves to return it.

However on Saturday morning, the Daytona was found ablaze in an outer-Melbourne suburb and before fire crews could extinguish the fire, much of the Daytona was destroyed. As a matter of fact, it is unlikely that the car will be repairable.

This particular Ferrari Daytona was special largely to its previous owners including Roger Waters from Pink Floyd as well as Princess Diana’s boyfriend Dodi Fayed. Just three weeks before the car was stolen, it had been completely restored for Motorclassica and was at the shop following the event for some minor damage repairs.
