The 2016 Porsche Macan GTS has just celebrated its world premiere at the Tokyo Motor Show 2015. The car fills the gap between the Macan S and the range-topping Macan Turbo.

Powering the Macan GTS is a twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre V6 engine delivering 360 hp and 369 lb-ft of torque. That engine is coupled to a seven-speed PDK dual-clutch transmission driving all four wheels and accelerating the Macan GTS from naught to 96 km/h in a brisk 4.8 seconds and when optioned with the Sport Chrono Package, a 255 km/h top speed.

The new Macan GTS has been outfitted with an advanced air suspension system complete with Porsche Active Suspension Management which allows the driver to easily adjust both the vehicle’s ride height and the stiffness of the damper. Interestingly, the Macan GTS is able to sit 10-15 mm lower than the Macan Turbo. Elsewhere, performance SUV has been installed with high-performance brakes including red brake calipers clamping down on 360 mm discs at the front and 330 mm at the rear.

From a visual standpoint, the Porsche Macan GTS adopts a number of small unique design elements to distinguish it from other Macan variants. That includes a selection of gloss black and matte black accents as well as a special set of 20-inch RS Spyder Design wheels painted in Satin Black. In the cabin, there are sports seats adorned in leather and alcantara, an eight-speaker audio system, Porsche Communication Management and an array of components adorned in plush leather.

In the United States, the Macan GTS has been priced at $67,200 and will go on sale in March. Meanwhile, it is already available to order in Germany for 73,400 euros.
