It has been confirmed that at the upcoming Los Angeles Auto Show 2015, the Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport will be revealed. The car will be based around the potent Cayman GT4 but most importantly, act as the German marque’s entry-level race car meaning it’ll be restricted to the racetrack. Porsche expects private customers to field it in the likes of the Pirelli GT3 Cup Trophy, Pirelli World Challenge and Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge.
Powering the Cayman GT4 Clubsport will be the same 3.8-litre flat-six engine of the road car producing the same 385 hp. Importantly however, the six-speed manual gearbox will be replaced with a dual-clutch transmission sending power to the rear through a mechanical locking differential. It is reported that a PDK option will soon be made available for the Cayman GT4 road car.
Elsewhere, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport will come equipped with the front suspension and axle components of the 911 GT3 Cup car with 380 mm discs featured at all four corners. Further changes will include a racing bucket seat, six-point harness and a roll cage. All up, the Cayman GT4 Clubsport will weigh 1300 kg.
Porsche is accepting orders for the Cayman GT4 Clubsport at Porsche Motorsport in Weissach or from Porsche Motorsport North America. The car will be revealed on November 18.
