A bright red 2005 Porsche Carrera GT has just been listed up for sale from Ferrari Maserati of Newport Beach for $1.195 million.

Ever since launching a decade ago, the Carrera GT has cemented its position in supercar history as one of the most driver-focused and hardcore road cars ever conceived. The Carrera GT really is a race car for the road and in recent years, values of the mid-engined German supercar have ballooned.

This particular example has covered a mere 765 miles in its lifetime meaning it is essentially brand new hence the high price tag. It is also particularly noteworthy due to the red paint scheme while most other Carrera GT’s are painted silver. It is riding on a set of silver five-spoke wheels with red and blue centre locks as well as yellow brake calipers.

Inside, there are black leather bucket seats and black leather across the steering wheel, centre console and dashboard. As with all Carrera GT’s, the wooden gear knob is one of the standout features of the cabin.

Beneath the sleek bodywork of the Porsche Carrera GT is a race-derived 5.7-litre V10 engine pumping out 612 hp. The car was designed to compete with both the Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren and Ferrari Enzo but made do without any of the driver aids of its two rivals.
