Mercedes-Benz USA returned to the Colorado Grand 2015 as a sponsor and a plethora of its classic vehicles were present at the event. This was the 20th time the German company had sponsored the Colorado Grand, which took place from September 14 to 19, starting and finishing in Vail, Colorado. The pictures of Mercedes’ vintage and some contemporary cars against the scenic backdrop of the Rocky Mountains can be seen below. These include the Mercedes-Benz C111, 300SL, AMG GT and the all-imposing G-Wagon, among others.

The Colorado Grand is an annual charity tour for sports and race cars of distinction from 1960 and before. The first edition was held in 1989 by Bob Sutherland. Since then, every September, around 85 vintage cars drive around 1000 miles over five days through the Rockies in a non-competitive event. The tour attract lots of vehicles, especially from the 1920’s and 1930’s, from automakers like Mercedes-Benz, Ferrari, Porsche, Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Bentley, Aston Martin, Jaguar, Maserati, Allard, and exotic names such as Amilcar, Cisitalia, Squire, Delahaye, and Talbot-Lago.

The event has generated more than $4.5 million in charities. Some of the charities that currently receive funds include the Colorado State Patrol Family Foundation, the Robert Sutherland Foundation, Flight for Life, CASA, and medical facilities in small towns.

Apart from Mercedes-Benz, sponsors include Hagerty Insurance, WeatherTech, RM Auctions and Passport Transport. The tour goes through towns where spectators can interact with the owners and participants, making this drive part of Colorado’s larger community.
