Mercedes-AMG is promising that the next-generation E63 will be a revolution for the German company.

While speaking with Autocar at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2015, AMG boss Tobias Moers said that the new car won’t be “an evolution but a pure revolution – the biggest step an AMG E-class has made.” He also said that despite the next-gen E63 being available in all-wheel drive only, it will be just as tail happy as all of AMG’s best rear-wheel drive models.

Powertrain wise, the new Mercedes-AMG E63 will utilising AMG’s new 4.0-litre twin-turbocharged V8 engine. Currently, that engine pumps out 503 hp in its most potent tune but considering the next-gen BMW M5 will produce 600 hp, Mercedes-AMG will have to modify the engine to ensure it is on par with its closest rival. As a result, new turbochargers will be fitted considering AMG has previously confirmed the engine is currently operating at its limit.

Beyond its powertrain upgrades, the new Mercedes-AMG E63 will be discernible from regular next-gen E-Class models thanks to its aerodynamic bodykit including new bumpers and wheels.
