The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD), one of the world’s most well-known police force’s, has just welcomed a Tesla Model S to its fleet.
It remains to be seen if the Model S will be used for patrols or if like many other ‘exotic’ police cars around the world, be simply used as a promotional tool. Whatever the case may be, it makes the LAPD just the latest in a long-line of organisations to receive a Model S after numerous five star hotels have also added Model Ss to their fleets to meet green energy targets and improve their public image.
Importantly, this Model S is the performance-oriented P85D model which prior to the recent launch of the P90D, was the fastest Model S variant. It utilises two powerful electric motors making for a combined 691 hp and helping to accelerate the electric sedan to 96 km/h in a mere 3.2 seconds. The key reason why the Model S P85D is so much quicker than other Model S versions comes thanks to its all-wheel drive system as well as the extra power.
What a waste of money
