Thanks to its turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, the latest Audi S3 is actually quicker than the outgoing S4. In order to address this, it has emerged that Audi will make the latest S4 pinned to arrive in 2017, significantly faster than the current model.
Obviously, the new Audi S4 will be based around the recently revealed 2016 Audi A4 range. Consequently, it will adopt the same refreshed exterior design and make use of all the styling elements which distinguish other ‘S’ badged models from their lesser counterparts. Consequently, the 2017 Audi A4 will include larger wheels, silver wing mirror caps as well as new badges.

The existing Audi S4 utilises a supercharged V6 engine pumping out 333 hp. While the next Audi RS4 will use a twin-turbocharged V6 engine, the new S4 is expected to maintain the current model’s engine. Rather than 333 hp however, it should pump out over 350 hp putting it well above the 320 hp BMW 340i.
Unsurprisingly, Audi’s famous quattro all-wheel drive system will be fitted standard and come fitted with an S-tronic seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. While recently speaking with Car and Driver, Audi revealed that a six-speed manual ‘box will only be offered if there is enough demand for such a model.
