Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Concept revealed

At the annual Worthersee GTI meet in Germany, the upcoming Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Concept has been revealed. The car previews a future range-topping Golf GTI variant which will offer similar performance to the range-topping Golf R.

Beneath the skin, it has been confirmed that the Golf GTI Clubsport Concept pumps out 265 hp from its 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine. That figure is a 35 hp increase over what the current GTI delivers when equipped with the Performance package in Europe. Alongside that added power, an overboost function is featured on the GTI Clubsport Concept which provides an additional 25 hp at the touch of a button and for short bursts.

The official sketches revealed show that the potent new hot hatch variant will also look more aggressive than the standard GTI. With that in mind, it features a different bumper incorporating newly aggressive air intakes and fins. Elsewhere, new wheels have been fitted while the rear end is particularly noteworthy for the roof-mounted wing and new diffuser.

The best thing about the Volkswagen Golf GTI Clubsport Concept is the fact that it will reach the production line in the near future.
