Late last year, the Mitsubishi Evolution X Final Concept was introduced to preview the final production-spec variant of the Lancer Evolution. Now the road-going model has been made official with the release of the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Final Edition.

Despite the concept delivering a monstrous 473 hp from its 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine thanks to a large HKS turbocharger, revised exhaust system, a new ECU, improved cooling and a new air intake, the production Evo X Final Edition isn’t as potent. As a matter of fact, it doesn’t produce any more power than the run-of-the-mill Evo and therefore pumps out 296 hp.

As the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X Final Edition is based around the GSR version, its engine is then mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. Unlike the GSR however, the Final Edition has been fitted with advanced Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs as well as lightweight BBS alloy wheels, larger Brembo brakes and new Recaro seats.

A mere 1000 examples of the Evo X Final Edition will be produced and sales will be restricted exclusively to Japan.
