To celebrate April Fools Day, Audi Japan announced a special variant of the A8 dubbed the Audi A8 5.5 and complete with a rice cooker for the rear seat passengers.
As part of the gag, the German marque said that the 5.5 name was derived from the word gohan which means rice in Japanese. Audi went as far as to say that the rice cooker fitted to the A8 5.5 utilised a Japanese rice cooking pot called a Hagama to generate heat “directly from the core” to create the so-called perfect rice each and every time.
Additionally, a number of different rice cooking selections were included in the Audi A8’s rear-seat entertainment system display to make things look even more genuine!
