Audi to Launch Two New Electric Cars by 2018

Audi is planning to release two purely electric vehicles by 2018 as it launches an offensive aimed at rivals Tesla and BMW.

As it stands, the German manufacturer is looking at launching both an all-electric sports car as well as a sports activity vehicle (SAV). While it remains to be confirmed, it seems apparent that the electric sports car will come in the form of a production-ready Audi R8 e-tron.

As for the sports activity vehicle, it will feature an all-wheel drive system and be able to cover over 500 km on a single charge.

Audi’s push for new electric vehicles will see an additional $2.4 billion in investments by 2019 bringing the total investment figure to $22 billion.
