Rare 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 COPO Heading to Auction

1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 COPO

A rare 1969 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 COPO Coupe is set to go under the hammer at Russo and Steele’s 15th Annual Scottsdale Arizona Auction in the middle of next month.

A mere 69 examples of the original Camaro ZL1 COPO’s were created and it is believed that fewer than 50 remain. This particular example is even more notable as it is one of only three original Camaro COPO’s to be fitted with the COPO 9737 Sports Car Conversion.

Throughout its life, the car was a former national record holder and for the past 15 years, has been owned by just one person. This is the first time the car will be sold since its original purchase. Despite the car’s age, it has retained most of the original sheet metal and has had the original period racing livery lovingly restored.
