At next month’s Detroit Motor Show 2015, Volkswagen is set to reveal a brand new crossover concept.

According to company sources speaking with Reuters, the new Volkswagen Crossover Concept will be a five-seat version of the German firm’s impending seven-seat SUV set to be produced in the U.S. and based around the Volkswagen CrossBlue Concept of 2013.

The new five-seater variant has reportedly been confirmed for production by 2016-17 and alongside the seven-seater, will sit between the company’s existing Tiguan and Touareg offroaders.

Further details about the new crossover concept are unlikely to be released until the car’s official unveiling in January but we know it will be based on the Volkswagen MQB platform.
