Mercedes-Benz GLE Coupe Teased Ahead Of Detroit Auto Show Reveal

Mercedes-AMG 2014

Mercedes-Benz has released the first official teaser image of its GLE Coupe prior to the SUV’s debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit this upcoming January. We’ve seen pre-production versions of the GLE testing on multiple occasions, however this photo, which also shows the upcoming C450 AMG Sport, is the first look we’ve gotten at the official production-spec vehicle.

The GLE Coupe is based on the same platform as Mercedes’ ML SUVs, which will also be renamed to GLE after receiving a planned styling update. The model is a direct competitor to the BMW X6, which offers consumers a sportier package without sacrificing the practicality of an SUV.

Both V6 diesel and petrol GLE Coupe variants are expected to be offered, along with an economical hybrid model. A high-performance AMG version is also expected to be introduced and may be powered by a twin-turbocharged V8 engine, possibly the one from the 2015 C63 AMG.

More information on the GLE Coupe will become available after it breaks cover in Detroit early next year!
