Next year, Audi is set to reveal its latest-generation A4. The refreshed A4 will be Audi’s answer to the newer BMW 3-Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class range and now a prototype has been spied testing under heavy camouflage wearing its production body.
Underpinning the next-generation A4 will be the second-gen MLB platform. This new platform will be extremely scalable and will weigh significantly less than the current architecture thanks to its use of aluminium and steel.
From a powertrain standpoint, a selection of turbocharged diesel and petrol engines will be offered. Most significantly however will be the inclusion of a plug-in hybrid variant set to rival the 3-Series plug-in hybrid and C-Class plug-in hybrid models currently being developed.
Stylistically, the next Audi A4 could become the firm’s first production model utilising Audi’s new styling language previewed by the Prologue Concept.
