It appears as though the hyped 2016 BMW M2 is set to be revealed at the Frankfurt Motor Show 2015 next September. When it does debut, it could prove one of the best sports cars, in any category, on the market.

BMW Blog reports that a debut at Frankfurt makes the most sense as it is on the German firm’s home turf and is the latest major international car show before production of the M2 should kick off in early 2016.

As for what will power the M2, the latest reports indicate that a brand new, next-generation 3.0-litre twin-turbocharged six-cylinder is likely to be given the green light. Designated as the S57 B30, the new engine will feature different internals to the same sized ‘six from the M3/M4. All up, it should deliver around 370 hp and come fitted with either a six-speed manual transmission or alternatively, a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

Visually, it will include a brand new bodykit incorporating an aggressive splitter, new hood, blacked out kidney grille and new sports wheels. Additionally, BMW M’s customary quad tailpipes will be present.

  1. This will not be the car you all think. This will be a version of the 235I and nothing else. It will not be a 1M replacement as it will come refined with a view to sell in the thousands. Yes they may use wider tracks and a diff going out as standard kit but BMW know how popular this car will be and they will cash in on this.

The M1 was akin to Froch vs Groves 1….20000 people and one of the best fights, and come backs ever seen and the M2, will be like Froch Vs Groves 2…..100000 people but not the best fight to watch although a devastating knockout.
