Honda has just revealed the first image of its Formula One engine for the 2015 season which will mark the Japanese firm’s return to the top-echelon of motorsport as an engine supplier. Next year, the McLaren F1 cars will run the Honda engine.

There remains some conjecture about when the new engine could debut on track but some reports suggest that McLaren’s existing engine supplier, Mercedes, is allowing the firm to test the new Honda V6 engine at the test following next month’s Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Recently in Singapore when discussing the testing schedule however, McLaren team boss Eric Boullier said, “We have not exactly defined when and where we will test first, to be clear about some discussions and rumours. There is a lot of work going through and, to be honest, as per the original schedule, everything is fine so far.”
