Prior to the Paris Motor Show 2014 early next month, Land Rover has just unveiled a special version of the Evoque dubbed the Range Rover Evoque SW1. Jaguar Land Rover says that the Range Rover Evoque SW1 is just the first in a number of ‘Inspired by Britain’ special editions set to be released.

Built around the Evoque Dynamic, the Evoque SW1 is available with five different colour choices. These are Firenze Red, Fuji White, Loire Blue, Santorini Black and Corris Grey. Whichever paint is optioned, the Evoque SW1 features a Fuji white roof as well as 20-inch wheels again finished in Fuji white. As you would expect from a car ‘inspired by Britain’, the SW1 features the union jack on the rear spoiler and wing mirrors.

Underpinning the Evoque SW1 is the same 2.0-litre petrol engine as the Evoque Dynamic with it delivering 285 hp.

The cabin continues the theme with Taurus Ebony leather upholstery, door inserts, arm rests and facia trim picked out with contrasting Cirrus stitching. A stand-out anodised red finish is applied to the rotary shift controller and shift paddles for models fitted with the 9-speed automatic transmission, while versions with the manual transmission receive a unique themed gear lever insert. Headrests are finished with tags bearing the Union Flag colour graphic, and this is repeated on the carpet mats with Ebony binding. As a finishing touch, the same motif, rendered in monochrome, is etched into the sill plates and vehicle key.

Another cool feature of the Range Rover Evoque SW1 is its adoption of an advanced head-up display system. According to Land Rover, this particular system features laser holographic techniques which result in better colour saturation, brightness and contrast.

Discussing the HUD, director of Land Rover Programmes Murray Dietsch said, “Jaguar Land Rover’s HUD system is an innovative driver information tool, which really pushes the boundaries of advanced laser projection technology. It borrows from military technology – which, until now, has been unheard of in the automotive industry.”

Order books for the 2015 Range Rover Evoque SW1 will open in October.
