Rare Ferrari 375 Plus Fetches $18.3 Million at Goodwood

A stunning rare 1954 Ferrari 375-Plus managed to fetch $18.3 million at the Bonhams auction at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2014 on the weekend.

The Ferrari 375-Plus is, as the name suggests, a more potent variant of the 375 racing car. It features a 4.9-litre V12 engine instead of the regular model’s 4.5-litre powertrain while also utilising a Formula One transaxle.

The body comes thanks to Carrozzeria Pinin Farina and this particular example actually features matching chassis and engine numbers of 0384.

A couple of the key reasons for why the Ferrari 375-Plus is now such collector’s item is the fact that they were once driven by the likes of Umberto Maglioli and José Froilán González. Additionally, the Ferrari 375-Plus competed at Le Mans and Mille Miglia in its former years.
