Mitsubishi has just previewed its latest Pikes Peak International Hillclimb 2014 entrant in the form of the 2014 Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution III. Building on the Evolution II which entered last year and the first Evolution from the year before, the Evolution III builds on Mitsubishi’s expertise racing zero-emissions electric cars.
While piloting the MiEV Evolution II last year, Hiroshi Masuko managed to come second in the Electric Modified Division beyond Nobuhiro ‘Monster’ Tajima and his custom made E-Runner Pikes Peak Special. Just like last year, Masuko will be joined by fellow racer Greg Tracy in piloting the 2014 Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution III at Pikes Peak this year.
Powering the 2014 Mitsubishi MiEV Evolution III are four electric motors with each powering its own wheel. All up, the car delivers a total of 603 hp. By comparison, the car entered last year produced 536 hp. Beyond the engine, the new Evolution III features a revised chassis which is lighter than previously and thanks to some new aero add-ons, the new car delivers more downforce than ever before. Finally, Mitsubishi’s Super All-Wheel Drive Control system has been reprogrammed to make the Evolution III handle better and get through the corners even quicker than before.
The Pikes Peak International Hillclimb 2014 takes place on June 29th.
