2015 Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake

Jaguar have released the first official images of the new XFR-S Sportbrake that will be unveiled at next weeks Geneva Motor Show 2014. The car will sit alongside the XFR-S Saloon that we recently tested. Jaguar are marketing the car as one that caters ‘to every sensibility, without compromising on the luxury, refinement and versatility expected of a Jaguar’. The Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake is the British marques first high-performance R-S branded sports estate car and offers practicality in the form of its 1675 litres of rear load space when the rear seats are folded flat. Along side the comfort and convenience is monstrous performance courtesy of its 5.0-litre supercharged V8, the same that is found in the saloon.

The engine is a peach and brings an unmatched character to the saloon and we are sure that it will work the same magic on the estate. Besides its likeability, the engine propels the XFR-S Sportbrake to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and on to an electronically limited top speed of 300 km/h courtesy of the 550 PS on tap. Linked to the brutal V8 is Jaguars eight-speed transmission with ‘Quickshift’ functionality that enables optimal acceleration throughout the speed and rev ranges.

The exhaust system has been optimized in order to channel the waste gases away from the engine with the greatest efficiency keeping emissions down. Do not think it’s all work and no fun, the central silencer has been replaced with an X-piece and near straight-through rear pipes combining to provide an enhanced exhaust note with the added benefit of a motorsport-style crackle on the overrun, something that was addictive on the saloon and one of the best sounds we have heard in a while!

To help control the cars extra mass and length the XFR-S Saloon’s chassis has been specifically retuned for the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake with the Active electronic differential and Dynamic Stability Control systems from the XFR-S Saloon enhancing the XKR-S Sportbrake’s handling characteristics. This should ensure that the car will stay balanced and stable on twisty mountain passes as well as staying supple and smooth on arrow straight Autobahns and motorways. Additionally the Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake’s rear suspension has been modified with revisions to both rear spring rates and the adaptive damper tune.

2015 Jaguar XFR-S Sportbrake

The standard XF Sportbrake is a very handsome looking car that conceals the added length very well and the XFR-S Sportbreak takes Jaguar’s design to new levels that make the Audi RS range look understated and subtle. The new scoops intakes and re-worked panels make this car look like no estate we have ever seen. Finished in Ultra Blue, complimented with the huge 20-inch lightweight Varuna forged alloy wheels, gloss-black grills, splitters and other highlights, the XFR-S Sportback looks angry!

Geneva Motor Show 2014 News

The order books for the XFR-S Sportbrake will open on 1st April 2014 with prices starting at £82,495 (around €100,000). We are sure that this newcomer will offer a fantastic package of speed and convenience that will re-define the fast-estate car sector. We cannot wait to get behind the wheel of the brute!
