Tesla Awarded Rights to Use 'Te Si La' in China

Following a very long trademark dispute in China, Tesla Motors has finally been granted the use of ‘Te Si La’ for its Chinese vehicle sales. This is a name known by many Chinese consumers and Tesla was in a trademark dispute with an individual who had already trademarked the name in China.

However, while recently speaking with Reuters, vice president of Tesla’s China operations Veronica Wu said, “We went to court and we won. The court has given use right to use the name, which is why you see the Chinese name in our store now.”

Even though Tesla Motors was still fighting for the name, the Californian electric automaker began Chinese deliveries of the Tesla Model S in late December last year.
