Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Receives Coupe Counterpart

While the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe Concept was only recently revealed at the IAA Frankfurt Motor Show 2013, the automaker has obviously always had the intent to put the car into production. Consequently, numerous prototypes of the S-Class Coupe have been spotted testing in recent months.

However, the very first Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe prototype was recently spotted testing under heavy camouflage. It comes as a great relief to know that even this sleek Mercedes-Benz will receive the brutish performance and visual upgrades associated with all AMGs.

This particular prototype can be distinguished from other Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe prototypes recently spotted with it including redesigned front air intakes, a more aggressive front bumper, AMG-style wheels and the awesome rectangular AMG tailpipes.

Under the hood, the Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Coupe will feature the same engine as the standard S63 AMG. That means an AMG 5.5-litre V8 biturbo engine. Power will likely be pegged at an equal 585hp with torque of 900Nm. In the standard S63 AMG, drive can be optioned with the AMG all-wheel-drive system 4MATIC or kept standard with a more traditional rear wheel drive setup. We expect the same options for the coupe. Acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h of the sedan takes 4.0 to 4.4 seconds, depending on model variant, and the top speed is 250 km/h (which is electronically limited).
