Sebastien Loeb Smashes Pikes Peak Record

Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak

Sebastien Loeb has demolished the record at Pikes Peak. His run in the Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak clocked a time of 8:13.878. This makes him the only person to break the eight minute mark and it beats it beats last year’s record of 9:46 by more than 15 percent. Last years time was set by Rhys Millen who followed Loeb after his record run today. By comparison, Millen managed a 2013 time of 9:02.192, shaving 45 seconds off his personal best yet not even coming close to Loeb’s time.

For those that might not have heard of Pikes Peak before, it is a mountain in Colorado, USA. It features a paved road which leads to the summit 4,300 meter summit. The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb runs 12.42 miles which means that the average speed for Loeb’s run was 90.5476 mph or 145.7223 kmh

It’s fitting that Loeb and Peugeot should smash the record as the mountain actually drew some of its notoriety from the film Climb Dance. It featured Ari Vatanen racing his Peugeot up the steep, twisty slopes and setting a new 1988 record in the process.
