“Mexico is the next China” Says Ferrari

In the past few years, China has become an absolute meca for automotive manufacturers, but according to Ferrari, Mexico is shaping up to be the next China for the automotive world.

While speaking with Burgess Yachts CEO Jonathon Becket and Gotham Jets CEO Gianpaolo De Felice aboard a $40 million yacht, Ferrari North America CEO Marco Mattiacci said ““Mexico is the next China. We see indicators that lot of manufacturing is moving back to Mexico.

“The quality of education is absolutely outstanding, and you have a proximity with the U.S. as well. Plus there has been a change of government,” he said.

Despite Ferrari boss Luca di Montezemolo recently announcing that Ferrari would be chasing greater exclusivity in the future and not greater production numbers, Mattiacci revealed that exclusivity in Mexico is at an all-time high.

“When we launched the new La Ferrari we are positively surprised that sadly we now have on-hand a list of 15 billionaires who want to request that car,” Mattiacci said. “I can tell you that in 2003 when we launched Enzo Mexico was not having that kind of request. That’s a big indicator.”

Also, don’t forget that with billionaires such as Carlos Slim expanding their wealth, Mexico will surely become home to even more billionaires in the coming years!
