Report: Tesla Model S Heading to China

Around 1,700 Tesla Model S' Being Sold Each Month

With Tesla recently paying off its massive loan from the U.S. Department of Energy, the company’s next step will be its worldwide expansion and the latest reports suggest that China could be one of the first overseas nations to receive the company’s sole model, the Tesla Model S.

In order to drum up excitement in the booming nation that is China, Tesla is set to bring the Tesla Model S to the Chengdu Motor Show in September and if interest meets Tesla’s hopes for the Tesla Model S in China, then sales could begin soon thereafter. However, when the local taxes found in China are added to the already high-price of the Tesla Model S, it will be strictly limited to China’s upper class.

At the moment, it’s believed that Tesla could open its very first Chinese dealership in Beijing.
