After weeks of speculation, Chevrolet has finally revealed that the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray will be the official pace car for the 2013 Indianapolis 500 on Sunday, May 26th.
The car therefore marks the 12th twelfth consecutive time a Chevrolet has paced the infamous event and apart from all the necessary technical upgrades in the interior and the safety lights and decals, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray to be used as the pace car will remain completely stock.
With that being said, the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray Pace Car does feature the optional Z51 Performance package.
GM vice president of Performance Vehicles and Motorsports Jim Campbell said, “It is an honor to help inaugurate the all-new Corvette Stingray at the hallowed Brickyard and further the legacy between Chevrolet and the Indianapolis 500. The 2014 Corvette Stingray’s performance was influenced by racing, making this prestigious assignment even more fitting.”
