Race Retro was held this weekend in Coventry, United kingdom. The event was spread across three days 22nd-24th February 2013. There were two feature marques on display through-out the weekend. Lotus with racing legend Jim Clark and the Rally success of Alpine Renault. The Classic Lotus marque was celebrating the memory of Jim Clark 50 years on from his first championship win.
The show was situated in four halls in addition to this was the Live Rally Stage which is only 200m from the exhibition halls.The track was slightly altered this year to keep the drivers on their toes and offer something different for the spectators. Hall One was dedicated to everything Rally, including the Alpine Renault marque, Rally organisers and Motorsport artists.
Hall Two was the racing and speed hall with event organisers for racing, hill climb and sprints. Hall Three was dedicated to all things two wheeled and included the interview stage. Hall Four completed the line up, playing home to the auto-jumble and Parc Ferme for the Live Rally Stage cars.
Over the three day event Motorsport presenter Gemma Scott held interviews with various different racing legends. Sir Stirling Moss one of the greatest all round racing drivers of all time was one of the legends to be interviewed on stage as well as being available for autograph sessions on the Saturday.
On Sunday Murray Walker OBE “The voice of Formula One” spoke on stage at length about his years in Motorsport. Including his first broadcast at Shelsley Walsh Hill Climb in 1948. His career spanned across both motorcycle and car commentary and talked about his favourite interviews. Including MOTOGP star Valentino Rossi and Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson.
Other Motorsport stars included Tiff Needall current presenter of Fifth Gear and former Top Gear presenter, former BTCC three time Championship winner Win Percy and Norman Dewis Jaguar test driver who helped test and develop 25 Jaguar models in his career and is still involved in Motorsport today.
