Just a few months ago, the very first production ready 2013 SRT Viper GTS went under the hammer before being sold for $300,000, or over $200,000 more than its listed price. Consequently, you couldn’t blame General Motors from wanting to return to a Barrett-Jackson auction and if new reports are to be believed, there’s a possibility that the very first production-spec 2014 Chevrolet Corvette could be sold at an upcoming auction in January next year.
The car was recently spotted on the Barrett-Jackson website under lot number 3016, and even though very little information is given about the car, the fact that such a car could remain under wraps so well before an auction suggests that Chevrolet has already been in talks with organisers of the auction to post up a sly information sheet about the car.
As a matter of fact, no car name is actually given apart from the fact that it’ll be a Chevrolet with the advert saying the following in the description, “Have you ever wanted to own a piece of Chevy history? This may be your chance! A special Chevrolet model will be revealed during the auction where bidders will have the opportunity to take home this one-of-a-kind vehicle. **All proceeds to benefit center for creative studies** **will be sold at approximately 8:30PM on saturday, January 19, 2013**”
Whether or not this car will materialize to be the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette remains to be seen, but whatever car it is, it’s good to see that all the money will be going towards a worthy charity.
