For those of you hoping the upcoming Audi RS7 (which has been in the rumormill for well over two years now) would be the ultimate Audi going around, with the largest powerplant and most powerful engine produced by the marque, then the following news will sadden news.

The latest reports suggest that the RS7 will be mechanically identical to the recently launched RS6 to help lower costs for the German brand. As a result, the RS7 is tipped to feature the same twin-turbo 4.0 liter V8 engine producing 552hp and should also have the same 190mph top speed.

Additionally, it is being speculated that the RS7 will be offered as an alternative to the RS6 Avant which will reportedly not receive a sedan variant, whereas the RS7 will only be offered as a sedan.

The Audi RS7 could be launched as early as the Detroit Motor Show next month where all of these rumors and reports will finally be laid to rest.
