The BMW i8 has been on the scene for well over three years and despite that, development still continues as these latest spy shots show when the car was recently spotted winter testing.

The BMW i8 is expected to finally hit showrooms sometime in 2014 with the production variant set to be debuted sometime next year, possibly at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.

Set to feature an electric motor producing 170hp, and a 1.5 liter turbocharged three-cylinder pumping out 223hp, totalling 393hp all up, the BMW i8 should sprint to 100km/h in just 4.9 seconds thanks also to its impressive torque figure of 550Nm.

Although pricing details have yet to be released, it’s likely that it’ll cost in excess of €100,000.
