The 320hp BMW M135i recently completed a lap around the Nurburgring Nordschleife in just 8 minutes and 5 seconds making it faster than the Z4 M Coupe, E60 M5, Porsche Cayman S and Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG.
The blisteringly fast lap was completed at the hands of a “regular” driver with the car running on stock Michelin Pilot SuperSport tires and a six-speed manual transmission. It is important to note however, that this lap was a ‘Bridge to Gantry’ lap where a complete lap is not undertaken due to the track still being open to the public.
This means if the BMW M135i were to lap the entire track, its time would be just over 8 minutes and 20 seconds, as the ‘Bridge to Gantry’ route is approximately 1.5km shorter than the 20.6km distance of the entire Nordschleife, or ‘Northern Loop’.
Nevertheless, this is a mighty impressive time and as you’ll see in the video, it was completed on a damp track with some rain being present, a factor which would have inevitably added a few seconds to the lap time.
